Don't let the brake recall slip through the cracks like I did. The reason for mine was, I failed to register with Workhorse as the second owner and therefore never received any recall notices.

I purchased a 2002 MH in May of 2004 and during the latter part of that year recall notices were sent out to the owners. Since I wasn't registered as the owner I was unaware of any brake problems.

In 2005 I had problems with the brakes pulling to the left so I took the MH to a Workhorse service center to have it repaired. First remedy, install new pins and boot kits on front and rear. After being road tested they found the brakes still pulling left. Second remedy, after inspection found left front caliper locking up, replaced two front calipers, brake hoses and pads.

In 2006 I had a total brake failure, and thank God it didn't happen while I was traveling in the mountains. The total brake failure was caused by the left rear caliper locking up and failing to release the breaks. I had the left rear brake caliper replaced and all other brake calipers cleaned and lubricated. After driving approximately 800 miles later, the right rear caliper locked up and had to be replaced.

ron, your story sounds alot like mine. total brake job done, lots of money, and no answer from workhorse. maybe the gov will make them fix the problem before someone gets hurt or even worse(IMO).

jdsr,

I don't want to be misleading here.

The first problem with brakes pulling left was covered by Workhorse brake recall, but the service center only replaced the front calipers, pins and slides for all four wheels.

The rear calipers were covered by my extended warranty.

can someone provide the recall number and specific info on the brake recall?
mine locked up over Labor Day Weekend.
It ends up that all of my brakes need replacing.
WH has agreed to pay the parts if I pay the labor. According to the dealer the total job would be about $3500, with my part for the labor being about $800.
My major concern is are they replacing everythign that caused the problem. Seems like all 4 brakes would not go bad at the same time on their owm. Seems like it would be some computer or master cylinder issue.

ron, the parts they used to FIX your brakes are the same parts that have failed on mine twice. IMO i not sure bosch brake parts were to blame. the same types of failures that occured with the bosch brakes are still failing now. according to wh i dont have bosch brakes but mine have failed twice. As soon as these warranty companies relize the problem with wh brakes they will probly stop covering them(IMO)

As I have posted many times, register at Workhorse.com. Once registered, you can see if you are the owner of record, and if any campaigns are open on your chassis.

My own personal opinion, service center should have checked your Vin in data base and told you you were not registered owner.

I definitely agree.

My service center failed to inform me of the recall even though my service ticket stated that my first issue with the front brakes were covered under the Workhorse brake recall.

They also didn't advise me to register as the second owner.

I wasn't aware of any brake issues until I joined the irv2 Forums.

Same thing that happened to me. I don't mean to sound ungrateful for WCC paying for the parts, but something is wrong here. Too many people are having the same problems. I wrote to WCC 2 months ago and finally recieved a response yesterday. Guess what it said. "You are out of warranty" Sorry!
