Unfortunately, the bad news is that the WCC warranty database shows that all three (3) recalls for that chassis remain "open", meaning they were NOT done.
I can send you a copy of the build sheet which confirms my statement via a reply to an email from you to: edgray1@gmail.com
I suggest you find the nearest WCC Authorized Service Center and ask them to help get these recalls completed. Obviously, the Bosch brake recall is the most important and should be done ASAP. The other two are important, but you are most likely to get the brakes done because the other two are REALLY old. :(

Uh-oh. that's not good. Apparently the previous owners weren't paying attention! Is there a list of authorized WCC service centers available? We're two months into an 8 month trip through the southwest. I haven't noticed any brake problems, but I'd like to make sure I won't have any in the future. I'll be in New Mexico for the next month, if there's one close to Santa Fe or Albuquerque. I really appreciate the help! Thank you

I thought I had checked my '03 Bounder when I bought it used, but maybe I just took the dealer's word for it. It's exhibiting the symptoms that Workhorse describes, so I'd appreciate a check:
VIN: 5B4MP67GX23355638
If the recall hasn't yet been done, does Workhorse still do it at no cost?

Sorry for slow response, but YES both Brake recalls have been completed on that 2002 W-20 chassis. If you want the build sheet, send an email to: edgray1@gmail.com so I can attach it to a reply.
If you want to read about the recalls, look under the service tab, HERE: www.workhorseclub.com

Greg,
Open Campaign/Customer Satisfaction Bulletin Information
51101-C: Replacement of Bosch Service Brake Calipers
You need to contact an authorized Workhorse Service Center to get the recall completed. Your location will help me look up a "possible" dealer option for you.

Thank you sir- RV Masters here in Houston were able to see the open recall, and are ready to take it in next week. Looks like the recall covers the calipers and the R&R, and I'm on the hook for any other parts/labor... That's a great help though... Now if it'll just make it over there without locking up again!
Greg

Greg, Just take it easy on the brake pedal pressure. That may or may not help but just be conservative with the pressure.

Another WH VIN Check
Had no luck at the NHTSA site. Can someone please check the VIN of this Winnebago Brave I am thinking of buying to see if the recall work was completed?
5B4MP67G023344499
I'm getting mixed info on whether it is a W20 or W22. Should be the former but a free VIN check I ran shows the latter. It had no other details on the unit since it was new.
Thanks!

Welcome to irv2.com and the Workhorse forum.
The reason you had no luck at NHTSA is because they only track recalls that are issued and don't record individual completion status.
According to the WCC warranty database, that is a 2002 W-20 (20,700 pound GVWR) built on 11/28/2001. It has two recalls. The first recall, 50401-C replaced the style of slide pins Bosch used with their calipers, and it was completed 10-26-2004 @ 15,905 miles.
The second recall, 51101-C to replace the calipers themselves, is still "open" which means there is no record of it being done.
51101-C is commonly called the Bosch Brake Recall, and it is important to get done because the OE calipers proved to have piston material that swell in the bores and cause the pads to drag against the rotor creating excessive heat and component damage.
I believe that WCC/Navistar will pay to have all four calipers replaced at any of their ASCs, regardless of who is the current owner of the chassis. IF you buy the coach, I suggest you have the current owner get it done, or discount the price to compensate you for the trouble of getting it done yourself. They will not provide free replacement of worn or damaged components such as pads, rotors, or ABS sensors-only the calipers, fluid, and labor are covered by the recall.....
Good luck with your purchase.
