I have registered my newly purchased (5/07) 2006 Itasca Sunrise with WH and have all the documentation for the used MH but I am trying to find the Chassis Build Date as it affects as to whether my Allison was filled with Transyn. I know that the MH is a 2006 built on a 2005 WH chassis. From what I have read, if your chassis is post 5/05 then you will have Transyn in the tranny. So does anyone know how to find the actual chassis build date?
Frank

Allison ships their trannys with Transynd to the chassis maker. Workhorse adds the remainder fluid (for fill up and the torque converter), which I believe is Transynd for your MH. To confirm what Workhorse added call them at 1-877-946-7731. They will ask for your VIN No. to confirm. Thats how I found out for my MH.

Not sure on Winnebago, but my Fleetwood shows both the chassis and body build date on the ID card affixed above the drivers head over the left side drivers window.

This info was provided by DriVer in 2005.

"You have 100% Transynd installed in your W Series's Allison transmission if your motorhome has the following VIN# or higher.

5B4MP64G953409091

This VIN# was generated on 04/06/2005."

Hope this helps.

Fred

"P64" is an invalid VIN sequence

if that last eight is correct, the full VIN is 5B4MPA7GX53409091

My VIN# is 5B4MP67G553398546, is this a correct vin? It is a '05 Pace Arrow, 5 speed allison. Does it have transynd?
Thanks,

Since it appears the VIN I mentioned is incorrect, use the build date. Perhaps DriVer can update the VIN.

Your build date is: 08/09/04. Vehicles equipped with TranSynd are typically built after 04/01/05.

Allison's also have a serial number. From that you can call Allison direct and find out what's in the trans.

My VIN is higher than yours and I did not have Transynd in in my Allison 2100. I did have my Allison changed to Transynd by Detroit-Allison within a year and Allison gave me the extended warranty.

Well now I am confused as my VIN is 5B4MP67G453408516 but I was told it was built in 2005. What do you think Driver and/or parts_expert?

The 10th digit in your VIN number "is" in fact a "5" which means that you do have a 2005 chassis. 2005 chassis were being built as early as July 2004.

So for 3 "quarters" the 05 chassis were not using Transynd. The 4th quarter of 05 (April 2005) saw the introduction of the new transmission fluid.

All 2006 and up Allison transmissions have Transynd fluid and 6 speeds.

There ya go!
