tropical36, We both figured as much and it's OK ... no big deal. I can see where one can assume what you did because back in the day of solid core wires, I could have done the same thing and probably did at some point along the way!

Well I found a set of "upgrade" wires at NAPA in Mesa, AZ for $54.00, and I found the woven heat shields at a local speed shop. Wires are changed with the heat shields installed and she purrs like a kitten again. I will order a set of hipo wires when I get home and recover from our latest outting. (we had sunshades made for the moho this trip)

I remember back when I used to make my own plug wires. I would buy a length of wire, connectors, and boots and cut them to length for a custom fit. This was back before the ignition system became Hi-Tech and Really Hi-Voltage.

FT, You got that right. I used to get wire right off of a spool, cut it to fit and crimped on the connections. Worked every time. I still have my Snap On hi tension spark tester. It looks like a awl and I actually use it as one now days.

I have made a few sets in my day... I still have an "induction" type wire tester to test the wires while the engine is running.
