If he is any decent sort of A/C mechanic, he can charge it with the gauges and not have to remove it and weigh the charge in.
If he can't charge it using the pressures and temperatures, I'd look for another mechanic.

Delbert21,
Check your heater control valve... If it is an Evans Tempcon you may have a defective one and it will allow hot water to get into the heater core.
Also, be aware that the air intake for outside air is open to the engine compartment. In slow moving traffic you will not get very good cooling because the intake air is probably 100+ degrees. Try running on MAX AIR to draw the air from INSIDE the coach.

Had that problem on my workhorse too. Turns out that their supplier shipped 'em a batch of bad expansion valves
You may be low on charge,
You may have other issues
But I'd visit a professional on this one, they have the ability to check it out and fix it
In my case... UNDER WARRANTY (my favorite words when it comes to repair)

My AC holds 56 oz. of 134a. It has no tempcon valve. And it takes fresh air forward of the engine compartment just as the radiator does. Good luck!!
