I am interested if anyone after having this fuel retainer clip replaced, if after having replaced, did fuel clip fail & a fire occur? Am trying to get mine replaced & a authorized workhorse dealership refused, advising me that he is being sued $100,000.00 due to a fire after his service dept replaced fuel clip.

I've never heard of this happening...especially AFTER the replacement....after all, isn't that the reason for the recall?

I would contact WORKHORSE Chassis and report the WH dealer for non-compliance.

But you need to "get-R-done" on the replacement clip.

This happened at the Pegues-Hurst Motor Co Shreveport, La., & I called Workhorse on number given in recall letter. This company does have a law suit against it & Workhorse is saying cause due to Pegues Hurst not installing pin correctly & will not back them up. There is nothing to installing this fuel pin. If engine hasn't been started in a while, there is very little pressure in line. I took pictures of mine after looking at all info I found in rv forum. Anyway, Workhorse knows this dealer refused to do work, as they spoke to each other while I am standing there trying to get work done.

Very interesting! Pegues-Hurst Motor Co Shreveport, LA replaced a starter for me some time ago while I was passing through.

When ever a service center accomplishes a clip campaign they have to start the engine and check for leaks. This is a very basic concept that all mechanics do. If ya fix something try it to see if it really is fixed. Failing to do that with this clip replacement can lead to disaster. Obviously, someone skipped a step in the process.

Even if you install the clip, which may not be that too difficult for a talented shade tree type guy, you need to have the clip replaced again by a WCC Service Center that will show that the Campaign has been completed.

As you are traveling look ahead for a service center and make an appointment to have the clip campaign accomplished.

I had my clip changed at a WH svc cntr but the WH website still has it as an open campaign.
Called the svc cntr, they said that they not only told WH that they changed the clip but they alo billed them for it. Emailed WH and told them the clip was changed by Burt Chevrolet on such & such date, gave them my VIN and asked them to please update the "MY Workhorse" part of the website. That was acouple of months ago and they have'nt changed a thing , and did'nt bother to answer my e mail.
So if I sell it, I'll just have to tell the buyer that it was done but WH won't update the site. He can get it done again if he wants to.

My campaign on this issue was updated a week or so after the seller had it done, not sure why the delay on yours.

Just checked My Workhorse and the owner information finally has been updated reflecting my info...took around 6 weeks.

To the OP, I've had no failure since (or before) it was replaced...otherwise it would be a crispy RV...

Thanks Driver,
The clip was replacd 1/30/07 at Burt Chevrolet in Englewood, Co

" T6022 Replace Fuel Pressure Regulator Clip"
I appreciate it you can get that taken care of for me. Thanks again,
Max

Burt Chevrolet is an authorized WH svc cntr but they try to keep it a secret. Even when I call WH, they don't tell me about Burt Chevrolet, but I ask if I can take the MH there, they look it up and say, "Oh, OK"
Maybe that's got something to do with why it has'nt been posted that it was done.
I like Burt better than the other 2 svc cntrs because, I've never had to take it back for any thing they've done, and they have never even tried to get me to pay for any thing. The other place always, always, always charges me for something. If they can't bill WH or Damon for a part, they charge me.
That certainly does'nt make me want to buy another MH from them.

Had my fuel rail clip replaced last year. When the mechanic replaced the old with the new, he decided to do it from outside as opposed to taking off the doghouse. He had one heck of a time getting the new one installed as the spring steel was much more robust (tighter spring action). Anyhow, if he had of done it from under the doghouse, it could've been replaced in a couple of minutes instead of 20.

I read with the notice that the dealer received, that if the connection was pulled from the fuel rail that the associated seals and o-rings would have to be replaced before re-installing the new clip or a leak would be imminent

The preferred method is to replace the clip is from inside the coach because its an easier task and you can see the damper and make sure by looking at the clip and damper from above that everything is properly seated. This is very important when you start the engine to check for leaks.

If the clip is removed and the damper moves under pressure to any significant degree up toward the top of the housing the entire damper must be replaced or it may leak.

If the clip is not removed and replaced properly it becomes a much bigger job, delays the repair and inconveniences the motorhome owner. Repairing a failed damper, the first step would be:

a. Remove the doghouse!

When I had mine done (By an authorized Service Center) the service center told me they could not do it when I requested due to not being able to get the part in time. I made a phone call (I'm only a few miles from Workhorse HQ) and spoke with one of the people there. Alan, the national service manager for Workhorse. He lives "The other side" of my house from his office and stopped by and dropped off the clip on his way home (Very nice of him)

He advised me to have an authorized service center do the work because if I tried to do it myself a fire would surely result.

I got the distinct feeling that some folks had DIY'ed and burned as a result.

So, if it's possible to do it wrong, It's possible that a Service Center technician might slip up.

However, all factors considered.. I'd much rather they take the risk!!

Side note: I am a Chevy fan, my towed is a teenager (1992 Lumina APV) well, a few years back the engine went out (Spun bearings, about 200K miles so it was time) the dealer technician who put the new engine told me that he had done every thing right many times (engine was not running properly) and it must have been the very professional rebuilder who messed up, He told m e he told me and he forgot to connect the ground lead on the engine sensor device (Tach) so the computer was trying to operate and engine that, per the sensor, was not turning over. No wonder it was confused.
