I have the W22 Chassis and it has the digital readout for the gears shift, etc. It is dark enough that I am unable to read it unless I almost stand up and bend over the wheel..Any one else experience this and how did you fix it?

Try going here and looking for contrast adjustment. There is nothing else you can do. (This is a common beef among the Workhorse owners unfortunately).

I had the same problem, talked to WH, they had me go to the local service center and they took of the problem. There was a recall notice on part of it and they have since replaced my components.

CPN KAOS: Are you saying you can now read the dash with no problems. Could you please tell us what was done as I currently have big time problems trying to read the digital displays.

I finally contacted workhorse and they said their engineers were looking into changing some things . but the only thing they could recommend right now was the contrast changes..

I thought I was missing something when the following year started the new dash. With all the technical problems I am somewhat glad I don't have it. But by the time I get my new one (6 years or so) I'm sure it will be perfect.

I got my dash so that I can read it now..What I did is to buy a light (Halogen bulb) that plugs into the cigar lighter socket and direct it so that it illuminates the digital radout area..I got the light from Radio Shack..It is a light that has a firm supporting stem that can be adjusted to different positions..

It's funny how most MH owners are not young kids with the best reading vision but manufactureres put these digital readouts in the dash and radios that we need reading glasses and or a magnifying glass to read. I guess as long as we can't find something better, we'll keep buying what they make for us.
I have no problem reading the instument panel, or gear shift indicator, or radio in our other cars and trucks.
I have the P32 chassis with the traditional selector above the wheel, but apparently they did'nt have enough profit in it for them to put a light in it. I can see it in the daytime.
It's a lot of little things like this that WH just does'nt have the experience that Ford does in making user friendly vehicles.

Back in the dark ages when I used to design electronic speedos, tachs and other neat stuff, I had a truck driver complain about the small odometer I used. I was 36 and poo pooed him.
At 65 it's a whole different story...

I had to have my instrument panel replaced a few weeks ago due to a readout failure and the new one has a brighter backlight that is an amber color. Not perfect but easier to read. If I don't have my sunglasses on I can easily read it now.
