Although I have not used this product I do use a Scan Gauge II X-Gauge. IN regard to reliability - there are no after market products that I am aware of that can replace the GM Tech II. Therefore none of these products are reliable however they maybe accurate enough for some routine DX procedures. For example, I can clear codes using my SGII and I can pickup on some general fault codes.

That is nothing more than an OBDII code reader with a flash drive.

The software you run on the computer translates the error code, Same as the manual that comes with low cost OBDII readers.

Nothing special about it.

Will it work with the 8.1.. Yes,, Will it harm the 8.1: no.. Should work on any Chevy newer than 1993.
