FYI, I shampooed my carpet a few days ago. Previously I used my Bissel home unit but it went inop, so I rented a unit from Home Depot. Theirs is a heavy duty, but compact, unit. Has an attachment to do corners, sofas, etc. VERY pleased w/the results. Cost was ~$25 for 4 hrs (~$30 for 24 hrs). Also did a carpet in the stick house. Did well & removed spots I could not get out before. The clerk @ HD said HD pays over $1000 to buy each unit.

I recently shampooed the carpet in our motor home. I used our home shampoo unit and it worked just fine. The pile on the mo home carpet is not that thick and the hand attachment worked ok for those hard to reach spots. Seems like I am forever spilling coffee up near the dog house.

If I had to rent one, the Rug Doctor we rent from Longs Drug would be my choice because it is closer to rent than the local Home Depot. If I rented the Rug Doctor to do the motor home, you guessed it, the wife would find me a use for it for the balance of the 24 hours rental time.

Sometime ago we purchased the Bissel "Little Green Machine" which is small portable carpet cleaner that really works great. We found it at WalMart for about $70. It fits neatly into a lower outside storage compartment and we take with us all the time. It has cleaned a spill of wine, and soiled areas caused by our motion sickness cat. I also use it for a Spring and Fall cleaning of the carpet, chairs and couch.

If you are reluctant to use the "Wet" method in Winter Time, try "Capture" a dry method. You can find this product at most Sears and Lowes.

My carpet maker stated to use Dry cleaner. I never used it before but I tryed Capture Dry and it worked great. I also use it in my house now. It cleans great and also everytime you sweep your carpet you get the clean smell from the dry powder.

Chalk up another vote for Capture. Does a good job and doesn't leave the carpet wet. The small kit (pre-soak spray, powder, and brush) does the whole coach for less than $20.

We also carry a "Little Green Machine". As full timers, we like the small size. It works well and leaves the carpet only slightly damp. We use it on the furniture and valances also. A great unit for the price.

Thx for your inputs. I may try Capture the next time it's time.
