Question for Driver,
Checked with my WH shop yesterday about my cat-converters refit. I was told that the part kits are coming from WH and I am 9th on their list. Was this guy yanking my chain or is this a problem with WH parts supply? I called them (the local shop) shortly after getting the recall and it seems like that was a very long time ago. Is there some reason for this long delay?
What gives? Too many WH's to do and not geared up to do it?
Thanks,
Curious in Albuquerque

Parts availability does seem to be a problem sometimes. It took me 5 weeks to get parts to do the brake recall on my rig last fall. I called WH and they said yes, the parts I needed were on backorder but more were coming in all the time and the delay was running "about a month". Could be the same thing with your cat converter. Anytime a manufacturer has to order a 1000+ unplanned items, it is inevitable that there is going to be some delays.

Just so that you know, there basically isn't nothing wrong with your old CATs. The only thing that will change is that you will be the proud owner of a .10 cent sticker that says the CATs were changed.
When the new CATs come in, go and get them installed but in the meantime, don't worry about it.

I don't have a Workhorse, but just a dumb question. Would be interesting to hear the Paul Harvey (rest of the story) on why the cat-converters are being changed out when there's really nothing wrong with them.

The original CATs are actually better than the requiurement but the DOT want all the "i"s crossed and the "t"s dotted so that everything matches.
This is why there is no urgent need to re-CAT except in CA where I understand the recall specs may be checked.

Got a call today that our CAT kit has arrived. It was ordered the day before Thanksgiving. Have an appointment next Wed. This actually works out good for us as we are on our way out of town to a WIT Chapter rally in Beatty, NV. (I'm sure this will be the only time Warranty work will be convenient)
However, this means we need to keep our cold/frozen food in a separate cooler while the work is done.
