Turn on your ignition but don't start the motor. Depress your gas pedal 3 times then turn your key off. Should disappear till next time (7-8K).

I would also like to contribute that the 3 applications of the gas pedal as written by JCM need to be accomplished within 5 seconds.

This tells me that the GM OLM system is alive and well and that there is NOT a static 6k setting some think.

I can confirm my "engine controller" is programmed for 3000 mi changes. This is one reason I do 3000 mi changes.

I believe the OLM provides a software generated mileage interval for oil change that is dependant on driving/operating conditions. Time at wide open throttle,RPM,ambient temperature, and what ever are inputs the OBD system can input to the software which determines the rate of useful oil life remaining. I have seen various mileage accumulations-- all of which were greater them 3000 miles before the OLR indication reached zero percent.

I would agree with M&EM, regarding the OLM. As confirmed by the Workhorse factory rep. at the FMCA Rally - Pamona yesterday, the oil life counter on the engine controller operates oil change depending on driving/operating conditions, "not" at 3,000 mile cycles.

One other thing to think about is the display cluster. It gets all its info from the OBD II data bus. Depending on the programing of the cluster the "change oil" light could be triggered any number os ways.
