I have a 2004 Newmar Scottsdale on the W22 with 40m miles and the air conditioning compressor bearing appears to be making noise and causing the belt to slip when the air is turned off. My local Workhorse repair says that Workhorse doesn't sell just the bearing, I have to buy the whole compressor$$$$. Does anyone know of a cheaper aftermarket unit or bearing replacement or is this like the expensive fuel filter scandal?

MNRVer, no need to deal with Workhorse since the engine and all accessories (AC compressor) are also used in GMC/Chevy trucks.. A new bearing or replacement compressor clutch unit should be available from either GM dealers or auto parts stores such as AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc.
Hope this helps..
Jack

Hi DriVer, I stand corrected by HuskyJack on the GM-Workhorse parts availability. But I do think it is nuts that a fuel filter should cost $80.00. And it seems odd that 3 years later the price hasn't come down or an approved adapter been made available. Other than that I am very happy with my Workhorse chassis.

MNRVer, change out that compressor before it tosses the clutch plate. The belt will get cut as it did on mine very recently. You're looking at a thousand dollar bill. Good Luck!!

Thanks for the advice T&W. I just talked to a local GM dealer and was quoted $23.40 for a bearing, I hope that is all it is.
