Hi,
I decided yesterday to do my own Lube, Oil and Filter. Not a big problem with the oil and filter, but a little different story with the chassis lubrication.
This is my third oil, lube and filter all of which the first two were done by my dealer. It was a little time consuming finding all the grease fittings. To my disbelief, over 50% of my grease fittings were dry. What a major disappointment. There is no wonder people have problems with tie rod ends and bearings, when you entrust your dealer to do what he is getting paid to do. Anyhow, enough ranting...
My question is: I found all the grease nipples/fittings except for one. I couldn't find the "Parking Brake Bell Crank". Supposedly it has one fitting. From the diagram in the owner's manual it shows to be on the right side on/near the transmission. I can't find it. Anyone tell me where it is?
THanks in advance,
PhantomIz

The "Brake Bell Crank" zerk is under the hood.
Grease the "Brake Bell Crank" until grease comes out of the small hole indicated by the second arrow marked with question marks.
I always go to a large truck garage rather than an RV dealer for chassis maintenance. I also print the lube locations diagram and give it to the mechanic. I stay with the coach/mechanic while it's being serviced.

Parking brake bell crank on the diagram below in your post is #9. It shows to be around the transmission. Your picture shows the parking brake bell crank under the hood. Now I'm confused?????

"A picture is worth a thousand words". TOM N is correct. The bell crank connects the foot pedal to the master cylinder shaft and should be lubed whenever the other chassis zerks are lubed. There are no zerks on the steering column joints.
The passenger side has three and the driver's side has five zerks for the kingpins and steering linkage parts, plus one on each drive shaft U-joint, and one for the splined slip shaft. Not all "lube points" shown on the diagram are zerks. ED

Ok, that's great, but how about #9 on the diagram in the previous post. It shows to be the "Parking brake bellcrank" and is not pictured under the hood, it is pictured to be on/near the transmission. I thought that it had to do with the auto park system.
Which is right, the picture or the diagram from Workhorse?
Thanks

Suggest you go here: http://www.workhorse.com/Default.asp...yID=27&Level=a
Down load the Chassis Guide, You will be surprisedat how much information there is...It has been a tremendous help to me. In fact, I keep it on my desk top. Good Miles

I too lubed my W22 a couple of weeks ago but I have a question regarding #5. I was not sure what one is to do with the bearings -- any suggestions?
Thanks -- Frank O.

What is the best way to lube the spindle/kingpin points (#4 I believe)?
I thought I read somewhere that someone had raised the front end off the ground so that when they did those, they turned the front wheels to ensure grease got to the complete joint.
Personally, I would think that wheels straing and on the ground would be fine.
Anyone know what would be better?

I had the chassis leveled with my hydraulic leveling system and blocked the front and rear axles. Much of the weight was off the front wheels when I lubed the #4 spindle/kingpin points. They lubed up perfectly. Two pumps of the grease gun and a small amount of grease oozed out all around the joints...

From my understanding, the front wheel bearings are immersed in a pool of oil as opposed to being greased. I'm not sure what the oil change interval would be.
Someone else???

The photo TOM N posted is wrong - He posted the "service brake relay rod" that conects the brake pedal to the master cylinder. The PARKING BRAKE bell crank comes out of the front right side of the large round parking brake drum on the rear of the transmission. There is a cable and CLEVIS attached to the TOP of the BELL CRANK. To lub the CLEVIS PIN (#9 on the Lub Chart) you need to remove the cotter pin that keeps the CLEVIS PIN from coming out and then remove the CLEVIS PIN and smear it with grease, then re-install it with a new cotter pin. You must be sure the wheels are blocked and the PARKING BRAKE IS OFF, to relieve any pressure on the BELL CRANK. You will probably be the second person I know to have lubricated this pin as it moves such a short distance it is almost always left dry.
Good luck - Glenn
