When I put my turn signals on , my clearance lights alternately blink. That is, when the front and rear sinal light come on the clearance lights on that side go off and vice-versa. I am suspecting that this set up is causing other electrical issues with my turn signals. I'm wondering if all WH MH's are set up this way. Although the idea sounds nice, if it didn't cause other problems. If it is unusual and not necessary , I'm thinking about giving these lights their own ground which will diaassociate them from my turn signals

sounds like a bad ground already, so grounding is a good idea.

Which clearance lights are you referring to? The lights on top of the front and rear caps, or the lights above the rear wheel wells? The clearance lights at the top of the caps on my 04 WH-22 are not effected by the turn signals at all.The clearance lights above the rear wheel wells are only lit when the parking/running lights are on, and again do not go off when the TS's are activated.

Truthfully, this would not be a WH issue anyway. It is a coach mfg. issue. I would contact the coach dealer about your concerns.

The side amber marker lights flash with the turn signals as required. The clearance (roof mounted) lights are on when the park and/or headlamps are turned on.

I would like to install 2 side mounted signal lamps located near my mirrors however I haven't seen a good solution yet but I'm still looking. Velvac has mirrors with signal lights in them for 2005 and beyond models on the Adventurer but that a pricey solution.

If you're in a car and you've passed by rear cap, you would not be able to tell if I have a left signal light on plus a lot of the times those cars will fit exactly in my blind spot for just a few moments.

The midship side flasher/running lamp is standard on my Newmar. Really is a nice feature especially when a quick lane chane is required.

I had a 67 chevelle years back that, if you stepped on the brake pedal while signalling a turn, the dome light would flash.

It was a conversation starter so I never troubleshot that one.

You probably need to check with your states DMV but I'm pretty sure all our marker/clearance lamps need to be in specific locations and specific colors.

EJ , You bet! I wouldn't want to change any of the OE body lights or colors. I would like to add a separate fixture on both sides though and I believe that forward mounted signal lamps would have to be Yellow. LEDs would be excellent since they would grab someone's attention however I'm not sure how the mix of incandescent and LEDs would affect the flasher. I expect that I would also need an LED capable flasher.

A fairly common method of wiring side lights (not necessarly marker lights but side lights) is to hook the bulb between the turn signal and the parking lamp leads

That way if the parking lights are on the side light is on

And if the turn signal is flashing, then the side light flashes

Either in step with the turn signal (Parking/tail lights off) or out of step (Lights on)

Is this what's happening

WHY DO THIS..

So the idiot in your blind spot sees a blinking light, tha'ts why

DriVer, my Allegro came with amber turnsignal lamps screwed to the under side of the mirror arms, near the outer end. They are not LED however. The wiring connects down thru the hollow mirror arms to the front turnsignal lamp wiring at the head lamps. The lamps are just the simple plastic oval type that are sold everywhere. Also are handy if you are hearing impaired, as I sometimes am, to remind you to turn off those signals.

I am not near my rig right now. It is sitting outside in the blowing snow - Calgary.
I rewired my clearance lights under my mirrors into the turn signal circuit.
Now they can be seen by a vehicle beside me. Don't use LEDs as their light is directional - sidewase to the fixture - and are not well seen in the daylight.
I also saw some addon LED lights for $10-20 US while I was in an Autozone - down south - that would work well. Run the wires down inside the mirror arm - through the firewall and connetc to the turn signal wires inside the fenders.

max49, Try looking for a shorted wire inside your trailer tow wiring receptical on the rear of your coach. A shorted or grounded wire inside can cause wierd problems like that.
