A couple of days ago we were returning from the rally In redmond Or,just south of sacramento the outside temp got around 100 degrese, at about that time the clutch fan started to cycle on and off every 5 to 10 minutes. Is this normale for the 8.1 engine? or is there somthing wrong. just to add some more info, I was traveling around 60 mph and was not maxed out on weight.

You will find as the ambient air temperature outside decreases the fan will clutch up less.

To add to what Driver said, mine comes on at a coolant temperature of 212 degrees and goes off at 206 degrees.

Those are the numbers I recall from the drive up here to ID a couple of months ago.
