So the bottom line is writing your congress critter on this issue, if you did, likely had absolutely NO effect on the outcome. Just so you know.
I wrote my congressman a while back and asked him to look into investigation, I assume he did as he sent me a reply quoting NHTSA,
Now you say I should not write and thank him as we now have a conclusion. Yea, right, I'll listen to that advice.
At least NHTSA knew several congressman were inquiring as to how they were handling the case, and maybe all the i's got dotted a little more promptly.

Whether some follks like it or not those guys and gals in congress hold alot of power. If Im not mistaken they fund nhtsa and when the boss calls you will answer. Again Rick, I think you had a good idea and it worked.

No, I did not say you should not write and thank him because we have a conclusion.

I said I did not think he had much to do with it, NHTSA was formed many congresses ago and I truly do not think congressional pressure had much, if anything to do with this action.

I have followed some (most) of the links to the NHTSA over this matter and it has appeared to me they were moving toward where they have arrived all along, Very little can hurry a scientist in the pursuit of the truth. And that is what happened. They solicited input, got it, analyzed it, and published their findings.

But it never hurts to send a thank you to a congress critter, even if he does not deserve it.. (I should have said that last time) The tend to remember thank yous and the next time you have a problem, one that perhaps he can help with..... Well.. He'll be that much faster to act on your behalf.

(You should have seen the reply I got to one thank you letter.. I think the staff was so shocked at a thank you they needed EMS )
