On RV.Net, there is a current thread concerning reprogramming an Allison 5 speed to a 6 speed. Have any of you heard or followed this?

The rv.net subject thread states, "Yes it can be done but starting in 2006".
What's the point as starting in 2006 all Workhorse Allisons were 6 speed.

There is more to programming to get that 6th gear in an Allison. It requires a different valve body and a different Allison computer.
If I remember the particular thread right it is about $2000.00 plus labor.
Go to www.dieselplace.com. In the search engine put in "Allison sixth gear" and you will find all you need to know how to do this.
Good Luck

Next time, I will engage Reading Mode prior to Typing Mode. This thread was really not an issue for the gas models.
