Coolant change
Does anyone know how much coolant will drain out of the system by pulling the lower radiator hose?
Here’s my plan,
1. Pull the lower radiator hose, remove the radiator cap, and remove a hose from the Evens Valve (highest point in the system), and let drain completely.
2. Remove thermostat
3. Replace all hoses and add water.
4. Run engine until temp gage starts to rise.
5. Repeat step 1.
6. Repeat step 3 with distilled water
7. Repeat step 4
8. Repeat step 1
9. Install 180 degree thermostat
10. Repeat step 3 with 3 gallons of coolant and top off with distilled water.
So basically I will drain the system, flush it twice (second time with distilled water), install a 180 degree thermostat and fill with coolant and distilled water.
I need to know if over 3 gallons of coolant will drain out so I can add the 3 gallons in step 10.
