Coolant leak

Just went for a little ride (about 10 mins) in my Winnebago Itasca Spirit 22ft Chevy chassis motorhome.

After parking a bunch of engine coolant (neon green, slightly tacky, warm) leaked out from underneath (farther back than radiator location) and then stopped. Coolant levels appear normal though...

Any ideas?

Coolant leak

You need to crawl under and find the source. Could be many things including a hose.

Who put in green coolant or is this an older coach that pre-dates Dexcool?

"Further back" leads me to think the radiator over flow canister, usually mounted on the firewall, may have over flowed as designed. As the radiator cools it should stop and the level go down as the fluid is returned to the radiator.

What chassis and engine do you have? There are several places coolant can leak from. You need to check it out rather than assuming or taking a chance of a major leak.
2002 Fleetwood Storm 30H on Workhorse P32 chassis 8.1 gas.

Are you sure it came from your motorhome or could it have already been there when you parked? The reason I ask is because GM uses orange coolant.

Geen fluid leak

I had a green fluid leak in the same area and knew that my antifreeze was orange. It turned out to be a leak from my ac compressor. Someone had put green leak detector dye in the ac system and the seal on the ac compressor had leaked. I had to replace the ac compressor.

My leak was due to a new radiator cap. After a couple experiences with difficult to remove cap, I made a valiant search and found an exact replacement. Leaks, leaks, leaks. The mechanic I took it to replaced the cap with a newer model that has the lever, and 14lb safety rather than the earlier 13 lb safety. No leaks since. The problem is that leaks can go anywhere and drop on the ground far away from the source of the leak, leading you on a witch hunt that lasts forever.
2004 Tiffin Allegro 27.5 ft. P32 18,000 lb GVW. 8.1 liter. Workhorse chassis built May 2002. 21,000 miles. 2012 Jeep Liberty Toad. RVi2 brake unit.

Coolant is not "tacky". It's slippery.
