Hi,
Our motot home is out of warranty but the Actia guage is hard to read. Any idea how much it costs over the counter?
Thanks.

You're not likely to like the price if you just walk in saying you want to purchase a new IP cluster.

Rather than have you do that, I'd like to suggest you visit your favorite Workhorse Authorized Service Center (ASC) and ask them to take a look at yours. Then ask them to please call the WCC RSM for their dealership and ask him to consider helping you resolve this issue. Being out of warranty gives you no "rights", but it won't hurt to "ask" for consideration. Many owners have had good results and saved a lot of $$ following my advice. ED

Hi, Call Actia, google Actia for ph #, and run it by them. I replaced mine this year and it was out of warranty over a year. Actia said they will do an exchange for $100 bucks plus shipping. I asked them if it mattered if I waited for awhile to do it and they said, sure anytime. The Actia is very simple to remove & replace.

I ended letting a WH center do it as they were close by. WH covered the cost of the IP and the WH dealer didn't charge me anything. However another WH center quoted me the standard rate of apx. $100 for the remove/replace charge.

Don't know if things have changed since last April. I think WH will work with you.

I noticed in looking at 'My Workhorse' the the guage was replaced in 2005 when the original owner had the camper.

The cost you mentioned is not too bad concidering what bread costs these days. Is it necessary to set the new Actia at the existing milage at the time of the swap? If so how is that done.

Thanks for your help.

With Actia replacing it you send in yours and Actia will send you one back with the same mileage showing.

One WH dealer wanted me to bring the MH in and leave it, they will order a new IP and it will have the same mileage.
The WH shop I went with asked me for the mileage by phone and ordered another Actia. When it came in they verified the old and new had the same mileage.

ONLY Actia can program the replacement unit with the existing mileage. The dealer can certify the miles to Actia, so the new one comes in ready to be installed. ED

We have a 2005 it had the pixel drop problem. Out of warranty. We could not read the mileage. That was about 6 months ago.I contacted WH. They agreed to cover the $365 cost that Actia wanted for a rebuilt cluster. I think it may have something to do with the inability to determine correct mileage. They did want me to have a WH dealer do the repairs. The dealer wanted $200 to RnR the cluster. I convinced WH that the cluster was an easy to replace. In my case about a twenty minute job. They agreed , it only cost me $10 shipping to return the cluster to Actia. They payed the shipping back.

That was indeed quite unusual that you were allowed to install the IP on your own. Even if the IP mileage cannot be read on the IP, they can read it at Actia. It does get retained in the EEPROM in the IP.

My main concern was being able to read mileage for resale purposes.

Have you tried resetting it to factory default. I had the same poor readout, got out the manual set the default and WALA.
Easy to do and could possibly save you some bucks.

az bound, I believe the OP is referring to pixel dropout on the Actia cluster unit, (a very common occurance), and you are referring to contrast or brightness of the display. Pixel drop out requires repair or replacement of the cluster.
