I hate to bring up brake problems, actually I am not having any and feel badly for everyone having to deal with this on a vehicle that is supposed to be for fun.

That being said, all the threads on here about w20/w22 problems I had both Beaudry (San Marcos) and East Country Alignment (El Cajon) inspect my brakes fall last year. They both said my rotors were cracked, but within an acceptable amount. Is this accurate? My warranty expires in six weeks and I am wondering if this is something I should deal with or are cracked rotors acceptable. I wish I had some measurements or photos so you guys can give me a better opinion, but both shops told me to ignore it, it was considered normal for wh...

Thanks!

I was told by Workhorse tech support people that "surface cracks" were normal and acceptable. In the document contained in the Bosch sticky at the top of this forum there are some photos that might give you some guidance. Also take a look at my photos to see what real cracks look like. The smaller cracks in those photos are the so-called surface cracks.

Note that in just 6,000 miles my front rotor cracks progressed from the "surface" to the "OMG!" stage.

My suggestion is to have them inspected again before the warranty expires and document their condition with photos.

Take a look at all your other vehicles. I don't think you find any so called "surface cracks". States with vehicle inspections do not accept any cracks in brake rotors

I'm using the same rotors and pads at 60+K miles. Since both of these dealerships gave you the same assessment independent of one another I would take their word for it. Unless that is you want a 3rd opinion from a reputable service center. Perhaps you can go and see Keith at Redlands for the definitive answer.

hwybnb, now those are cracks. I don't mine look like that, I think I could make the determination those are "bad" If memory serves, they look more like the surface cracks in your photos.

With regard to Driver's comments, Beaudry is an auth WH center, and East County Alignment, although not an auth WH repair shop, did several (according to them) recalls for the older style brakes. I would imagine they are both qualified to make an assesment.

Thanks for the advice guys!
