My technician has diagnosed the evaporator on my 2003 Gulf Stream Sun Voyager is leaking refrigerant and needs to be repaired or replaced, but cannot figure out how to get the unit out of the heat/evaporator housing that mounts to the firewall. The unit is manufactured by Evans. Evans directed me to Gulf Stream, but so far they have not responded.

Can anyone shed any light on this subject?

Larry

As you can see on the photo, access to the evap coil should be no more than removing the box that covers it. Getting to the screws on the one side might be a pain. But, it can be done. Now I have worked on an Gulf Stream and it was not a fun job. Not a lot of though into repair after the build.

Dale, thank you for responding. I totally agree with your comment regard the degree of difficulty in making this repair. Not to mention the cost.

So, after much research, I am trying "stop leak" as an alternative. The leak is slow and based on what stop leak is advertised to do, I choose to give it a try.

I appreciated your input.
