For those really hot climates, simply add a small 12v water valve in a water house water line and place a couple of patio mister heads in the space in front of the condenser. Activate the valve whenever you need some extra cooling. With 80~100 gallons of water on board, the water cooling will substantially outlast a tank of gas or the heat of the day. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I wonder how much extra engine heat is generated hauling 80 - 100 gallons of water up hills?

When using a misting system on any kind of radiator system in the southwest desert areas, you will find that ordinary tap water will soon lime up the fins to point where they may get totally blocked. Go the extra mile and set up a small system using deionized water. A gallon goes a long ways and you wil find it much cheaper than acid tanking your heat exchangers.

This could be caused by the hot radiator fluid getting into the heater. I had a similar problem on my previous 2002 Workhorse and I bypassed the heater hose "H" valve. I installed a manual shut-off valve in the hose for the hot radiator fluid going into the heater which was letting that heat find it's way to my blower vents when the AC was on. I had to cut the radiator hose going into the "H" valve (mine was on pax side) and install the shut off valve I got from Autozone. I then then turned the valve off so no hot water would get through to the heater. Of course the heater wouldn't work unless I manually turned on the valve, but livng in Florida, that wasn't a problem. After this modification, I had ice cold air all the time. The "H" valves are poorly designed and are prone to failure. They are supposed to activate to the correct position based on hot/cold and heater/AC selections on the dash, but don't do it very well. This was a simple, effective fix for me. Good luck.
