Where to start looking for the problem. Unable to enjoy any cool fall outside air. Must turn the temperature control all the way to the lower corner of the blue zone to get any outside cool air with out heat, and I believe the A/C cycles at that point with out it being in an A/C on setting. Any suggestions or tips?

The AC Compressor will cycle when the defrost position is selected regardless of temp setting. It will probably also cycle on the bi-level position. Your book will give the details on this.

Sounds like it's working as it's supposed to. Any thing above the lowest setting should allow hot water into the heater core, especially if the AC is not on.

I will second that statement.. Sounds like Operation per design.

Now: If the A/C cycling bothers you locate the A/C compressor,, there should be one and only one wire hooked to it Remove this wire, label it and "tie" it to something that does not get hot nearby (Perhaps the pump intake line) That will prevent it from cycling.

It is possible to put a switch in this wire, but I'd not spend money (on the switch) till you are sure you want it that way.

The A/C cycles on in the Defrost mode to remove moisture from the air,, Then the air passes through the heater core to heat it up, it's now hot and dry and does a much better job of de-fogging than hot and moist air does.. Just in case you were wondering.
