How can you tell for sure which oil you have in your MH2100? My chassis was manufactored near the changeover date and I'm getting conflicting information. My manual and dip stick says Dexron III, but according to the date and a local dealer looking up in a database it should be Transynd. I'm stumped. If it's Dexron, is it the latest feeling that it's worth switching over the Transynd (or something else)?

BK, I would believe if you give Workhorse a call with your chassis s/n, they should be able to tell you what's in there.

It's the chassis manufacturer who puts in the fluids.

Yeh, thanks for the replies. E-mailed WH, but haven't received a reply. Chassis build date says 05/05 and Winnie build date is 06/05 so I guess I can assume it't Transynd.

You would think that there would be a sticker or something somewhere to make it obvious. Especially when the manual & dip stick say Dexron III.

You have Transynd. Get a decal from Allison.

My chassis build date was 11/04 so I missed Transynd. I took my MH in to Allison and they change me over to Transynd and gave me the full Transynd warranty. Allison placed the Transynd decal under my hood.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about. Why didn't Winnie do that?

Thanks for the info.

I spoke with both Allison and Workhorse and based on what they said switched mine over to Transyd at 20,000 miles (or maybe 25,000).

Both said the transmission would run cooler and last longer with Transyd.
I bought it at an Allison service center for about $33 per gallon. The filter was about $6 or $7. (Don't throw the magnet on the top of the filter away like I did )

I did find the price of the fluid varied - one service center wanted $48 per gallon.

Had mine done 2 years ago near the Monaco Factory...Oregon
Allison Trans Specialist..Clean facility
Flushed and re-filled with Transyn 325.00.
I thought it was good price they also did the extended service paperwork..

They gave you the new warranty?? The offer was chassis' less than a year old in April, 2005 were offered the extended warranty (5 years, 200,000 miles at no cost for the 2100MH, I think) if they changed over to Transynd.

If you got the new warranty you slipped through the cracks.

The vehicle owner must also use genuine Allison filters to maintain extended coverage.

No, not the 5 year warranty just filled out the paperwork that states I can go 2 years for filter changes and 4 years for flush... vs. the normal routine schedule... for the Dextron III
It did make a big difference in shifting and noise... Now everything in the coach is Syn... Thinking about even draining the HWH tank and replacing with Syn... Has anyone done that? Can't see where it would hurt anything and might even be good for the valves/pump???
