I turn on either left or right signal and I get both indicators blinking as though the hazard switch had been pushed. Could this be the flasher failing.

It could be that your multifunction switch has failed. If it has there is no way to avoid replacing it. Mine cost $995.

The turn signals and the 4way flashers have a seperate flasher unit. I would try pushing the 4way button in and pushing it again to release it. Some times when I turn the 4ways off I forget and pull it out instead of pushing it to release it and the signals do all kinds of crazy thing when I try to use them.

Do you have a toad hooked up when this happens? Have you done any rewiring of the MH to toad wires recently?

Rocky,
I was coming back south from British columbia and in Northern California hit some fog and turned on headlights. I noted that when I signaled the signal lights didn't cancel and both left and right indicators would be flashing.
I got down to the bay area an had a chance to check lights and found lights weren't flashing on the toad but were on the motorhome. I checked the pigtail and found two wires pulled out of sockets. I refastened them and then all was working ok. Last time I took the motorhome on a trip to So Cal and noted on the way home that this was happening again but only if the headlights are on. Now it happens without the toad being hooked up if the headlights are on??? I am puzzled about this. I thought it might be a flasher going bad and that is why I asked for confirmation here. Kindly advise your thoughts. thank you and Merry Christmas to all. Bill

What is a multifunction switch, what does it do and where is it located?

A example of a multfunction switch is the turn signal lever IF it also changes headlights from bright to dim or some other function in addition to turn signals.

Rocky,
I just had the engine battery replaced. it is in the front end behind and below the pass side signal light/headlight combination is.
The factory also did some fiberglassing on the side in that area also but these both these repairs were done after first noting the signal light problem.
I should also mention that I cant turn the signal lights off when both indicators are flashing, no matter what position the lever is in. But putting the signal light lever in the off position and then turning the headlights off then the signal lights quit flashing. ???

Like I mentioned I traced my flasher/signal problem to the toad lighting harness. One other place you should check, especially with the headlamps involved in the symptoms is the headlight hi/low/parking light switch. A rocker on the lower left side of the dash board.

Does yours Look like the above?
I believe there is a known problem with this switch being overloaded and partially failing. Leave your headlights on for a few minutes and feel the panel around the switch. Reach under and behind and touch the back of the connections. Any heat at all and you should get the recommended fix, not just a replacement. Mine looked worse than this: Redirect Notice

I'll be watching here to see if there is a fix. Since I bought my MH new I thought this electrical system is full of glitches & gremlins. I gave up on trying to fix them and so did the Svc cntrs when it was under warranty. For instance my turn signals work ok if the headlights are off but with the headlights on, the turn signal indicator lights just stay on solid without blinking, but the outside bulbs blink normally. The Svc cntr acted like I was being nit picky to want this fixed but they said it was a design flaw and they couldn't fix it. There are others but I won't go in to them now.
One Thing that I think causes a problem Is my Clearance lights also blink when I have the turn signal on, I like this, But I think there are problems with the system. The Clearance lights Blink alternately with the signal lights. I think they have a positive ground when the signal lights blink off which makes them blink on. I think if I would disconnect all of that some of my gremlins would go away, but I kind of liked it to have md ship turn signals.
Bebop Do you have this kind of set up?

Pretty much everything mentioned in these posts goes through the multifunction switch. Since this has been a problematic switch I would say there’s your problem.

I agree that the multifunction switch is very likely the problem. Mine failed immediately after using the emergency flashers for a few minutes with the towd connected. The lights went crazy right after using the emergency flashers. Later, I accidentally discovered that the turn signals would work if the emergency flasher was turned ON. The flashers did NOT work. After checking about a dozen possibilities the cause of the problem turned out to be the multifunction switch. I have since then been told by several experienced Rvers to NOT us the emergency flashers when connected to the towd because of the extra load on the contacts. I still have the old switch with the burned contacts to remind me.
