If you look at the definition of short trip vs long trip in the owners manual, which one do you think pertains to the average person/rv? I feel that I would fall under the long trip.

The workhorse chassis manual gives the impression that you should change the wheel bearing oil every 15k miles as well as repack the bearings which pertains to the P chassis. The owners manual gives no milage to change the wheel bearing oil, just check it each service interval which is 7.5k miles.

What really caught my eye was the difference in the oil change interval. Now I would never go 7.5k miles between oil changes, but I do not beleive I would want to change oil every 3 months if there is less than 1k miles on it.

I for one use the long trip milage. I also use Mobil 1 and the larger filter on the 8.1. If I don't hit the 7,500 requirement in 6 months I change it anyway.
My way of thinking is if I replace the oil with Mobil 1 at 6,000 miles it costs the same as a regular oil change at 3,000, but I get the protection of Syn.

I use the same oil as Ed, an long trip mileage, with a 6000 to 7500 oil change interval. The mileage covers about the season mileage for me an we are always on highways. I will check other fluid levels in between this mileage intervel though.---"007"

I use the "long trip" maintenance schedule, except that the oil gets changed every six months even if I haven't gone 7500 miles. We typically travel about 8-9000 miles/year, but most of the mileage is April-October.
