Drive by Wire issue

Hello all,

I have a 2002 Winnebago Chieftain 36W gas coach, my drive by wire module died last week and the service area I have it at told me that Workhorse no longer has these units available, my question is does anyone out here have a source where I can purchase a DBW module and wire harness?

I find it difficult to believe that I cannot find this product, are we just suppose to junk our rigs when parts are no longer available? This does not make sence to me at all. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks

I would bet that your chassis is close to or the same as a Chevy or gmc 4500 or 5500 series truck which would have the same throttle position sensor or TPS switch that you need ... Not a 100% but I would look in to that ... Which you could find at a local parts store
Just my 2 cents worth but it's a start
Good luck don't give up because one place told you they can't help

I would check with Lichtsinn Motors. HERE
They are a Winnebago dealer a couple of miles from the factory and I have had good service from them several times.

Update

Ok, I contacted Wheelhorse and they had the part I needed so I put them and the shop together to figure out exactly what part is needed and it was ordered today.

I hope they got it right. Thanks for all the help, I will post the results.

Was this facility an Authorized Workhorse Service Center? You can still get the part.

How much are they going to deduct from the bill considering you had to do the legwork to find the part? It would make me wonder if they had the competence to complete the repair once they have the part.

I'm wondering the same thing? This is rather an easy fix by the majority of Workhorse Authorized Service Centers.

Info

The place it is at is a very reputable big truck center with a great reputation. The truth be known I had the rig at our local Campers world (a Workhorse authorized center) for inspection and annual service and also to look into this problem, The week before; they cleaned the throttle body as directed by GM and thought the fixed the problem but I found out different after I got home.

I called Campers World to help in the search of the part and they told me they had no luck, I will however be looking for a new workhorse center and establish a connection soon so I have a good place to go.

I hope to have it back by the weekend.

I think CW is just getting too big too fast and they are using a lot of inexperienced people.

Glad to hear it's under control and you're in more competent hands.

If your throttle setup is a Teleflex unit w/the movable pedals, you can follow this link for additional info.
But I'm guessing its actually a GM part. If the shop gets the wrong part, I'd shoot a PM to OEMY and see if he can direct you; he's pretty knowledgeable on all things W.H.

Its almost funny when professionals give you an unqualified line of bs as a substitute for doing their job. Almost.
