E 10 Separation

Anyone using a fuel stabilizer to prevent E 10 separation? I know Starbrite make one for boat engines that is suppose to be good for a year. Several articles state separation can occur between 60 and 90 days.Then it could start manufacturing water.

Assuming that you are taking about storing your motorhome or winterizing it with a full tank of gas. Based on what I read you can add a stabilizer or run the tank down to the add mark and try for non E10 (10% ethanol) fuel.

Dale - In the NorthEast we don't have a choice. Every gas station I have seen uses E-10 even the marinas. Just looking ahead for my 3.5 month stay in Florida.

I've used Stabil, but not with E10, just reg gas.

I've used E10 here in the Northwest for years, and have had less trouble with water than I used to have with plain Gasoline. I attributed this to the polar nature of alchohol, which makes it mutually soluble with both water and gasoline. When any indication of water contamination shows up, such as stumbling on accelaration, or occasional misfire, I just add "Heet" at the rate of one bottle per 10 Gallons of fuel. That usually clears up the problem.

10 percent ethanol. Pretty much all you can get in the Northeast. Never had any problem with stabil.

I did a little test. 8 oz gas and 1 tbl sp water. I added Stabil - no change. I even tried Acetons - no change. I will get some Heet and try it
