Thanks for the advice, When I installed the air tubes this resolved most of the heat,the ignition wires are burning in my opion is the original manifolds we're choking the boots. the air across the manifolds help alot but it still had melted the # 3-5 boot # 4-6 Boot. I found no more or less nosie but the insulation around the dog house seems to be a great idea. I have not had an overheating problem which your idea would work great also. everyboby's response has deffinatly been more helpful then the factory. I want to say a to all THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!! I will keep you informed once I get back from a trip . ARROWVP38

I have the Taylor wires but installed them as part of the ultrapower upgrade and not due to burnt wires. I also installed some Dynamat on the dog house cover, but not the rest of the engine compartment area. We were very pleasantly surprised at how much difference the Dynamat made in the sound level with it applied only to the dog house cover. We didn't notice excessive heat from the cover before so I can't say that it made any difference for us with the heat. Before bothering to cover everything in the engine area I would reccommend doing only the dog house cover first and finding out if that is enough. It is certainly the easiest area to cover and may be enough to meet your needs.

cannon man,
The stuff I used on the engine cover was a 3/4" foam product with the silver heat shield backing. The rest of it was .067" if I remember right..... Both had adhexzive backing that worked very well. Summit and Jeg's both sell dynamat and their own brands which I'm sure are all OK. It made a tremendous difference in sound and heat both.

Yep, we used the 3/4" foam with silver heat shield Dynamat also and as stated it was easy to apply. I also used the silver coated duct tape to cover the edge of the foam where it attached to the cover just to ensure the wind didn't start peeling off the Dynamat. I used to look underneath to make sure it wasn't coming "unstuck" but after checking numerous times and not seeing anything coming loose I no longer worry about it. When I check the fluid levels is often enough now!
