Question Engine cranks stops after 4 cranks, no start

Hi Everyone,
I parked my coach and went out this week to get ready for an upcoming trip and when I went to start the coach to move it, it cranks 4 or 5 times and then stops. I have checked the fuel pressure, 60 PSI, I have changed the crankshaft sensor (as I read that is a big issue) still nothing! HELP! If any of you have any ideas, I could sure use them. No starter draw, starter cranks fine, new battery, it is like something is shutting the system down and not letting it start.

Please add your coach details to your signature. I.E. Year, Make, Model, Engine type, transmission type. You will get more informed responses that way. All we know now is you have an RV that won't start.

I am not a mechanical guy, but the first thing I would do is open the Doghouse(engine cover) and look for any loose wires. Do a crank and see if you are getting any arcing or strange noises.
If that looks good, I would pull one plug wire, hold it next to the engine or frame and crank the engine. Use an insulate pliers set to hold the wire. Then try and crank again. If you get no arc or weak one, you have isolated the problem between the distributor and plugs. This is an old fashioned way, but still works, and since you said you had good fuel pressure, it would be needs on my list to check.

If, I'm reading your post correctly and the engine stops turning over, while you continue to hold the key in the start position.
That sounds like , something in the circuit is heating up and loosing contact.
If you release the key to the " Run " position then turn back to " Start" will the engine, crank again immediately ? Or is there a delay ? As if something has to cool down before it makes contact.

There have been several posts on heat damaged ignition switches and related wiring; on Workhorse chassis; even information about a re-wiring of the ignition and addition of relays to prevent the overloading re-occurring .

Some of the part numbers and info on the problem are in this thread.

Hi Skip426 and the vfox,
Thank you for the post and information. Yes you can release the key and then immediately crank it again. It cranks the 4 times and then stops. I have never seen this before on any of the coaches I have owned. I am at a loss. I have checked and re checked everything I think it could be and nothing. I am getting ready to check the rely's again with my circuit tester. I will let you know!

LONG53... might want to place a CAN tester on the rig and reads its codes. It could give you some hints as to what happened.

Just for the heck of it I'd open and close my slides and also extend my levelers and retract them.

Can you turn on the key and then crank it by jumping the start solenoid?

Thanks everyone for their suggestions. I think I have determined that it is not an engine issue it has to be a cutoff or safety switch somewhere on the coach that is keeping it from cranking over. I have checked the ignition switch. I have put the rooms out brought them back in, put the jacks down and pulled them back up as Arch suggested and it still will not complete the crank. It cranks 4 or 5 times and then stops. it has to be something on the coach not allowing it to start. Has anyone had this problem or something similar?
