Here we are on Thanksgiving with blown engine on the side of I-20 in Alabama , 16000 miles on her.
Anyone know of service center that we might luck out of getting hold of today or friday, we are on phone with Roadside assistance also. But with the Holiday I think they are having trouble finding anyone open, But now I know its the engine I believe.
Attached anyone suffered this failure yet.

Boy,
That appears to be another crankshaft failure. My engine broke a piston at 19,000mi. Same end result. Max49 recently had a crank break. Good luck and I dearly hope you have an extended warranty.

It's your engine, one or more rods let go.
You will be down for a while.
Hope you get off the road soon.

Yes little over 16000 miles pretty sure it should be covered by Orginal Warranty, Looks everybody is closed so there towing us to a campground, since it might be Monday before we can get in anywhere.

Anyone happen to know where the ECS unit is that I need to find to disengage the parking brake, just in case the wrecker they are sending does not know, which I'm thinking will be the deal on a holiday.
I found the procedures to do it just no indication on where the unit is.

It certainly appears that there are at least some 8.1s that are just waiting for a place to fail. In spite of your bad luck with your new UFO, you are lucky that it is under warranty. WH should rent a vehicle for you to get back and forth to home. Let us know how it works out.

Waiting on Wrecker now, Just hope he has towed a motorhome before.
Looks like they found us a campground somewhere, Just hoping we don't have to wait until Monday, If anyone knows a service center not on the list that might be open on Friday. I know that some Chevy dealers do warranty work also.
Just kinda taking in stride rite now., we did have a vehicle in tow so have it to drive. Of course wife is not very happy some of the parts damaged her car.
Will keep post updated on how things pan out.

Anyone have any idea where the box to disengage the Park Brake prior to towing is located, found instructions on how to do it but have know idea where it is located assume it is outside somewhere since it has a plug over the allen head screw.
Just really afraid the wrecker driver will no know how to do this.

Don
Did you have a FCA failure before they were recalled? I know of one other UFO owner who had an engine failure after the FCA failed. When my FCA failed I shut the motor off ASAP and have always wondered if it did any damage that will show up later. The engine is warrantied for 5 years 50,000 miles.

I actually had the FCA recall done and never had that failure, I also had just started from a overnight stay and had just entered the freeway so thinking they are not going to be related.

I down loaded and printed out the instructions for disabling the parking brake. I keep a copy with the MH at all times. The tow company that towed me in this summer had a copy of the procedure with them. I can't seem to find the link on here that I down loaded the info from. Hopefully Driver will read this and point you in the right direction.
