Question Erratic speedometer and Tach

My 2008 Itasca Latitude 39W UFO with 8.1 Vortec in the rear, has suddenly developed the above. This all started after having extensive exhaust work: Manifolds, mufflers etc.
Any input on this?
Thanks......

Don’t know about the rear engine mount and your rearend configuration but there will be a speed sensor in the rear end or on the transmission tail shaft that should be checked before digging deeper

Is it just tach and speedo, or do all the gauges go bonkers momentarily? On the W22's, it's not uncommon to have a data glitch from ECM and all gauges peg max and go to zero before recovering. Buzzers and bells go off too.

Can you describe more details what you see and how frequent?

Question

The speedometer will jump from 50 - 100mph The Tach will not remain at the current rpm. it fluctuates between 1000 and 3000rpm. All other gauges are ok. As I stated in my thread, all of this came about after the exhaust work. They must have interfered with something Some say it is the speed sensor? some say it is plug wires?

Give Jon Brazel a call (Ultra RV Products, our sponsor) and he can give you expert opinion on what's going on. I've known those guys for 12+ yrs and gotten great help. Tell them Duner said to call.

Thumbs down

Contacted Alan at Ultra RV. He says to get it Wabco diagnostic at a shop.
Good Luck to me? No shops here have this software. I shall keep trying to resolve myself, even though it is -6C outside.....

I know they always tell you to disconnect the batteries before doing any welding. Could have cooked your PCM. Also could have burned a cable somewhere while welding. Also could have partially dislodged a connector somewhere. I would get on a creeper and spend some time under the coach looking carefully at all their work.
