I'm hearing an exhust leak at start up on the drivers side, can't tell just yet if its a header or maybe the doughnut at the connection. Is there a shortcut to figure this out, back in the day we would block the tail pipe and start searching, that's tough by yourself. I've heard rumblings that the 8.1 likes to eat header bolts, is this a fact or fiction? Any advise would great.
Thanks
Al

Since the repair it's been great! The sound would be the loudest just before the engine fires.
Larry's Auto Clinic, our authorized service center here in Myrtle Beach, changed it for me.

FYI. The doughnuts on the 8.1 have no springs, and you can grab the pipe and actually move the exhaust pipe around in that doughnut.....it somehow tightens up when it gets warm.
A local muffler shop says that is wrong and should have springs on them.....but I left it that way.

When I got home today from work I got up in there and started it up, hoping for a leaky doughnut, no luck could feel the hot air blowing out at the top of the manifold last jug drivers side. The other side had been all replaced prior to my owning it. It's in the shop now and I'm having the brake fluid flushed for the piece of mind. This is going to cut into my Omey budget at Myrtle Beach.
Thanks you guys,
Al
