I was told today by a local W/H service that any brake failure they get in now is being replaced with "New" designed calipers, but there are not enough new ones available to start the recall replacement yet.

Anyone else heard this?

Streamerman, No I have not heard this because it would certianly cause the already over loaded lines into the Workhorse Technical Support Center to fry!

I will see if there is any basis in fact to this rumor though so stay tuned!

Well it didn't take long to get a response to this inquiry from my resources.

The new calipers are NOT being used in lieu of any absence or shortage of the currently used interim calipers by Workhorse Service Centers.

The release of the new calipers will occur it is expected when the recall officially begins. We will all know when this event occurs because we will receive a letter via the USPS that a recall has been launched and to follow the directives stated in the recall letter.

I hope this helps dispel this rumor.

Thanks for clarification DriVer, I don't know why this person told me this. He is the Shop Manager and you would think he knows what he is talking about. So be it

He may have gotten "NEW" old calipers (there are still some out there) but they are not the "NextGen" calipers.

During a stop at my local WH dealer today I asked two questions to the service advisor.

#1) Are you still a WH dealer? Response: "Unfortunately, yes."

#2) Have you heard anything about next gen caliper parts yet? Response: "Actually I had to call them earlier today and they told me, Sometime within the next year".

Gee, what a nice visit......!

When I called the other day to see if the W/H facility that replaced my other 3 calipers was still a W/H servicer, they said no. They said Workhorse was entirely too difficult to work with so they quit.

We have "Destination" service centers that are represented here with Redlands and Brazels being 2 of those and as many times as I speak to those guys they don't have anything bad to say about their relationship with Workhorse.

If you have the technology, maintain an adequate parts inventory and have qualified and trained personnel to do the work there isn't anything that seems too mission impossible in being an Authorized Workhorse Service Center.

The job that they do for their customers is fed back to the company via the Rate A Motorhome Service Center. Those ratings are critical as to whether or not they get to improve their position with the company or if the company will chose to drop them as a center. As a center they can lead, follow but please ... don't get in the way.

Our Center here in Myrtle Beach, Larry's Auto Clinic, is not a "Destination" center however their tech David is as good as anyone when it comes to working on the UFO. Fully equipped with the Cameo software and support equipment, David told me that he is one of the top 3 techs on the East Coast & Canada that knows their stuff about the UFO.

I'm sure that if the truth be known, in my experience, there are usually two sides to a story
