I have 2005 workhorse P32 and found out it had the 103 inch belt. A Dayco
5061925 fit fine and I will use the old one for a spare.

Terra29, just so someone that has the same model and chassis that you have does not get confused about their belt, the belt number you posted has a TYPO; It should be DAYCO BELT #5061 025 (not 5061 925). The belt you used is a 6 grove, 27/32 wide X 102.5 inches long. The factory belt is 1/2 inch longer: DAYCO BELT #5061030.
Best to you and safe travels!

I guess I am really confused; the consensus on this forum has been the 8.1L engine needs a 108" belt. Wonder why members are using belts that have a difference of 5”? Seems the shorter belt would not fit.

I carry a 27/32" x 103-5/8" Gates belt. It has 6 ribs. It is in NAPA packaging; part # 061031. This is the same exact # as was found on the original OEM belt. Good luck!! But PS, changes in alternator output can have some bearing on belt length. There sometimes are changes to the fan sheave size also. Good luck!!

I could be any number of things... such as belt routing, pulley sizes, idler pulley arm length etc. Why... depends on the OEM builder specs maybe. Who knows?

Terra, how difficult was the belt to put on? Did you, or can you remove the entire doghouse on your Daybreak? It looks like Damon glued the house carpet to my doghouse and I hate to rip it up just for practice.
Mine is also 103". I got 'middle of the road' belt from Carquest K10316.
Interchanges with
Gates K061031
Napa 25-06103
Both Napa and Carquest had a better or at least a more expensive belt available but I don't have those numbers. My intention at this time is just to have a spare. However, it does not look like fun to change it when I have to.

Just changed out my belt. Original belt with 53k on it was showing cracks on the inside ribbing. Old belt was measured on a belt gauge at Checker Auto and came out to be the same as the 108 inch replacement plus about 1/4 inch from stretching and wear I guess.
Only needed 2 tools to make the change.. Did complete change in less then 1/2 hour all from underneath. Used a 3/8 breaker bar to release the idler tension. Used a 20 inch long wooden stick to prod the belt up over the alt and ac pulley up top. Then reached up with my arm to slide belt back side over/around fan pulley and behind upper idler. Checked for seating of belt ribs in each pulley as I went along. Final thing was to move tension idler enough to slide belt over it.- Done. Ran a quick check.
Old belt was/is too cracked to trust so I will carry a new spare same part # Goodyear Gatorback as I just installed. 108" PN is 4061080 (6PK2745) This was the number the cross reference guide indicated for the WH belt number.

It took about 20 minuets to remove and about 1 hour to install. My doghouse opens even with the back of A/C compressor. I had to work from the bottom and top to get the belt on. To keep it in place I wired it to the bottom pulley. I put a stick under 3/8 ratchet to hold the tension off. I also referred to a photo of 8.1 engine to keep me straight. I have a Fleetwood.

I got the # wrong should be Dayco 5061025. The original GM # ended with 6PK2610 and the Dayco was a 6PK2605 that's 5mm shorter about 1/4 inch. It was a snug fit with out tension.

Why are there different lengths when they're all 8.1 Chev engines running the same accesories?

supercub, The belt driven equipment on the engine is dependent on year, make and model. These devices most likely are installed by a 3rd party sub-assembly resource or on the plant floor on a long block in much the same manner as the varying electrical harnesses and the many other configurations for suspension components for example. This is why Workhorse is a Custom Chassis company. WCC produces for the OEMs what they order and require to integrate into their particular coach body. I can't begin to tell you how many SPIDs there are on the options sheet I have but they number something in the order of 365 different OEM selectable options.
Not all horses are created equal.

OK I read this post a few days ago but did not act on it.
I rationalized my coach is only a year old with 12k miles. I broke a belt when my old coach had 50k miles on it. That coach was a Workhorse, now I have a Freightliner. Etc. Etc.
So now I sit in the Custom Diesel parking lot in Allentown, PA waiting for them to open tomorrow morning. The belt blew on I-78 last night around 9pm. Tow truck did not show up until midnight. Did not get to the lot until 1am.
A vacation in Williamsburg will have to wait a few days.
So if you read this, get a spare belt NOW!!!!

Finally back on the road with a new belt.
In addition to the new belt, also keep a belt routing diagram with you. Once that belt breaks, you may be guessing as to how it went on.
