Getting ready to purchase 2008 Georgie Boy or 2009 Georgie Boy, I have read a few post mentioning this issue but unclear if its effecting all units or was there a point where maybe the factory upgraded to the new parts, The dealer with the 2009 of course is telling me that the 2009 should not have any issues that it was fixed.

I'm also aware that current pricing on these is very low, for a very nicely equiped MH, and pretty much feel even if I have the issue arise I can live with the bump in the road.

I wish I could answer you but...

What is FCA?

gresults, I don't believe the FCA delima on the UFO 8.1 has been resolved by Workhorse. I do not own one, but have been following the thread here on this forum by UFO owners. I know there seems to be quite a bit of apprehension among some of them concerning this problem.

No problem here. I knew about the potential problem before I bought and I would still buy one now...the chassis is just that good. The brakes are fantastic, the handling is too. The GB CM would certainly be one that I would look at if I were still shopping. It looks like a well designed and well built coach. And at less than 98g you really can't go wrong. If it had a floorplan with two rocking chairs in the
bedroom like mine does, who knows I might own one now!

And Donald, welcome to the forums!

Thanks for some input, this will be my third MH and the last two had there own issues, so kinda feel pretty sure none are imune from problems, I did take a look at a older new unit over the weekend but found that it had more issues than I can dig up on the UFO, it had a frieghtliner chassis and appeared it might have had a couple of recalls.

If you have any questions about the chassis don't hesitate to ask, hopefully I will have an answer for you.

I would think that since GB is now a Forest River Company you should be able to get good owner support. FR has some pretty deep pockets.

Well looks like if all the paperwork goes thru I will be picking up my 2009 Georgie Boy Cruisemaster in Florida on the 21st. My salesman reassured me that his finace guy said there should be no issues, So keeping my fingers crossed tryed to purchase one in December and was declined, so paid off most of the debt on my Credit Report to see if that would help.

I tryed to purchase a 08 here in Texas at a dealer in Alvarado, Tx but guess since it didn't go thru the first time must of felt it wasn't worth there time, O well figure once the deal finalizes I might send them a email let the know I owe them big time ended up pay less for the 09 than I would have for the 08 anyway.

Will keep everyone posted if it looks like a sure thing....

Well I sure I will get slammed but this is my question/ questions and my opinion since he asked. From what I read there is a problem with the ufo engine(fca) and They dont have a answer yet. Why in the world would anybody spend that much money on a chassis that is having problems? I mean, I love my mh's layout but I have a problem with..Well we all know what parts.. my ch. If there is not a problem or there is a fix let me know. I researched mine for 3 years( on this site) before I bought and was told aw shucks, everything is ok now. Just buy it and drive it. So before yall start flamming, Im just stating what I have read here and I dont care who makes it. Donald my advise to you is you better do "YOUR OWN UNBIAS RESEARCH" before you sign on the bottom line.

Our UFO owners are unbiased as the driven snow ....

The FCA issue is known and well in hand and a global solution will be rolled out as soon as WCC knows that they have it exactly right. The FCA is actually inexpensive. I've had one replaced on my front gasser not that long ago.

I don't believe that you are going to find any better resources that what are available here in the iRV2 Workhorse Owner's Forum. The core group of UFO owners that we have here is greater than any other resource I can come up with at the moment.

Initially we were criticized because we didn't have any UFO owners now that we have quite a few it seems that criticism is moot at this point. I trust their opinions as much as I would trust any other members who own front gas chassis.

The opinions that you are getting here from the UFO owners are unbiased.

jdsr,
Yes I do relize there has been some mention of issues with the Fan Clutch Assembly on the units, and yes also aware there really has not been any know solution to this problem, And fully relize there could be issue down the line I might need to deal with and hope that the issue never comes into play.

I have also know what and how I will use the unit for, We do alot of short trips with 500 miles of our home, Yes I would be more concerned if I was hitting the open road, I have had two motorhome prior to this unit, The first a A Winnibago View which suffered from power loss from part failure on the engine and the second in which I should have looked at a little harder.

Only time will tell...
