As I have posted, on our last trip, had an issue with the brakes sticking, Driver recomended to flush the brake fluid, so with information gained from Oemy's website, I flushed the brake system with Dot 4 fluid, using the gravity method, all went well. Our trip in December will tell if the flush helped, I think it will. I will let you'all know. This fourm is made great by the folks that post here.

Thanks

Johnnie

Changing your brake fluid is always a good idea but keep in mine that it is preventive maint. and not a repair. If the piston in your calipers have already swelled they won't shrink but changing the fluid may prevent it from getting worse. Be aware of the brake problem you had and try not to overheat your brakes and you should be alright.

speed racer: Excellant post! factual and correct. Thanks, ED

K1hog: since you've already had some degree of sticking, you should remain vigilant and aware of anything that doesn't seem right. If a problem develops, follow the instructions you received with the Interim letter. Good luck to you and travel safely. ED

I thought this sounded interesting for us to test our brake fluid.

FASCAR - The best brake fluid test

But then , after reading it, it sounds more like a sales pitch to shops as a way to make more money. It does'nt really say this test is better than a moisture test but it indicates there will be many more failing tests with this, resulting in more business for the shop.

Is every thing about the money?

I am not sure where the copper would come from. All brake lines that I have seen are steel or stainless steel.

From those pages in the link
Quote:
Copper is used in the brake lines of the brake system. That is the primary source for copper in the brake fluid.
Huh? Copper lines are definitely Not Allowed on vehicles around here. The vehicles come from the mfg. with steel lines so where does the copper come from.

Seems more like a scam to me.

Cheers
Willey
