i changed the gear oil today in the front hubs of my 04 w/h w-22 after help from all you people on here.
one question>> when i drained the oil from the passenger side wheel the oil came out like a grayish color like a used oil. but when i drained the oil in the drivers side hub the oil came out like the color of brand new oil like that bronze color.
it has 38,000 and this is the first change. i used 80/90 weight oil to replace
does the different colors mean anything or doesn't matter?
thanks

ps: i just snugged the drain screw on the hub, is that good enough? i didn't really tighten it up tight

The greyish or milky color would indicate that miosture had contaminated the oil, Probably nothing to worry about just check it periodicaly. You should check the bolts around the bearing hub for tightness also. I don"t remember the torque callout for the hub bolts but someone else may have it. The drain screw should be a little more than snug.

Good move. Now keep and eye on things to see if anything changes color over the next few months.
