I have a 2005 Itasca 38J W24 with 9000 miles. I'm going to take it in to have the fuel line retainer clip recall taken care of, and also have some service work done. I have a few questions and could use some advice. The WH service center I'm going to is not an RV dealer, but a truck place. I know from reading posts here that the best way to perform recall work is to remove doghouse which I've never done, and wonder if this truck center will be familiar with that task. So question #1. How do I remove doghouse? My owners manuel seems vague.
I do my own oil changes and lubes, but I intend to have service center do lube this time. Question #2. What other service might I want done at this time? I keep reading about brake problems. Is there anything I should have done regarding brakes? My brakes seem to work fine, except they do "groan" when backing out of storage after sitting awhile.
I am a frequent reader of this fourm and really appreciate the information posted here. So thanks in advance for any advice.
Bobby

Bobby, On my Winnebago doghouse there are 2 - #10 or so Phillips head, sheet metal screws that attach the front of the doghouse to the firewall. These screws, 1 on each side, are located about 1 inch off of the floor close to the firewall and accessed from the side of the doghouse. There should also be a (1) hex head bolt on the center of the rear of the doghouse about 2 to 3 inched from the edge. Look in your Winnebago kit bag to see if there's a BIG Allen key in there. My rig came with one. I believe it to be a 5/16 to 3/8 Allen wrench.

You may want to have your brake system flushed however regarding any issues that you are reading about Workhorse brakes including a recall does not apply to you as you are in a W24.

We all groan for a little bit when coming out of storage OR just getting up off the couch. Get that thing on the road and it'll clear right up.

I do a lot of mechanical work and have thousands of dollars worth of tools, But I can not figure out how to get my doghouse off without ripping up the carpet, which must be glued down over the screws. The worst part I have found with Damon.
I have a 12"X 15" access cover which is easy to get off but it does'nt do much good for changing a belt or alternator for instance.
I'm sure they did not have to take the doghouse off to change my fuel rail clip.

When we had ours done, they did it through the access point, no removal of the doghouse was necessary.

Max, This is not the first time that I have heard where the coach assembly workers (or engineering) has disregarded the probable need to access the automotive equipment below the floor.
