How many here change their fuel filters themselves, and how often do you do it? I'm getting ready to change mine and figure it probably should have been done sooner. Just wondering how difficult it is.

jojolou, Overall it's not that difficult to do but it will require you to sit up under the vehicle and work with both hands.

There are a number of retaining bolts that hold the fuel lines in place, all of those need to be removed or backed off. There a 3 connections to the fuel filter 1 in and 2 out.

See Oemtech's signature for a link to his website. Therein is the install procedure including pictures.

As Driver mentioned it's not difficult. I changed mine in about 30 minutes and I change it once a year. OEMTECH's got everything you need, reasonably priced.

I have 50,000 miles on my RV. The fuel filter has been changed twice. The first time at 25,000. Oemy's adapter was installed at that time. As I am very clausterphobic my brother in law visiting from Chicago did the install. He said it was very easy to do. I just changed it myself at 50,000 with no problems. The worst part was sitting under the RV and working in a tight place.

Another thing to consider is the dimensions of the installer which could make this task exponentially more difficult!

I've changed mine twice. Once at 20K and once at about 40K. I also purchased my replacement filter from Oemy. I travel most of the country so I purchase fuel from many sources yet both of the filters I removed were extreemly clean. That is to say that I cut them open and there was no noticable dirt-goo-junk to be seen.

I have changed mine 3 times, once a year. I bought Oemy's adapter after the first change and now buy the "old style" filters from him. It takes about 15 minutes to change it now.

not sure what angle you'll be able to work in under there but I had trouble getting all three fuel line fittings tightened --I could get 2 tightened up easily but the 3rd was giving me fits--finally figured out to only get 2 of them started & then start the 3rd--didn't matter which one...oh yeah it was the WH OE filter...enjoy!

brought the MH out of storage tonite & something told me to check the fuel filter when I got home, sure enough smelt gas when I knelt down by the back tire...got under the coach & found the back fitting needed to be tightened up some more--got thru with that and then had the wife turn the key on to let the system pressurize & no leaks then had her start it up with me under there for about 10 seconds & no leaks so hopefully it's finally done--gad what a PITA!!

You know what Mike! At 70, I don't want to keep adding to my Resume. But I seem to keep finding things to add on. LOL

I don't mind working the motorhome thing it's just those unique things on the "Honey Do List" that that are challenging!
