If I could sell you an adapter for $50 or less shipped to your door and you could use a $10 replacement filter would you change more often?

Considering how much fuel a RV uses and where you get it I have a tendency to change more often. Take a close look at the original filter and judge for yourself. Hey Steve how many miles on the filter?

oemtech, Great plan, when are you going to start manufacturing and distributing these filter adapters. There has to be a goog amount of Workhorse owners that would take adavantage of this adapter. But wait, what's my cut.. I'm sending in my forms today so I have the patent...

The only way I would do this mod is if it was manufactured and backed by some product liability insurance. As far as your cut... we would work on that.

If anyone has a old filter laying around and wants to get rid of it I will be glad to take it. I need some test parts. I am putting together a tester with a gauge (0-200psi) and plan to test some various welding options... TIG/MIG/Braze/Silver Solder/ETC. Send me a PM for the address or use external email (in my porfile).

Nice going Dale, now you're ready for the install.. Make sure to loosen up the line clamps so you can move the lines. With the added adapter on you need to move the lines about 3/4" front and rear..

Al asked..<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">So my point is; is all this effort worth $53 plus tax every couple of years? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
A scenerio that hasn't been mentioned here is the event of a dirty load of gas, needing several filter changes to clear up..The old filter is certainly cheaper, and alot more available, in the event you need to change it several times. I havn't made one of these yet, but I will, and use it with the assurance I can change filters often if needed, without "breaking the bank", or waiting for a "3 holer" to materialize. ...rgr...

I added an final install photo on the previous page.

Mike B,
How about methane... Naah don't go there Dale!

Husky Jack,
I just removed the mounting clamp screws and reinstalled them.

TIPS:
1) Be sure to mount the filter correctly. There is an arrow pointing the flow direction.
2) You need a container to hold the old filter as it is full of gas. You will need a couple of small rags to wipe up any spilled fuel.
3) Do this with an almost empty tank so you don't lose fuel when you open the system.
4) When you test the system don't be surprised if it doesn't start on the first turn as normal. The system must re-pressurized.

Dale, when that filter was removed the coach had, 29,287.6 miles on the clock. We poured alot of rust out of the filter when it was changed. If you remember I had major problems with fuel flow.

Has anyone here ever thought to look into a RACOR fuel filter system. A one time install and then just swap out the spin on filter cartriges. Just a thought.

I found this thread with the search engine.
OEM , that looks like a brilliant invention.
Do you know if this mod is possible with 'screw on fittings' instead of welding?
Or would you want to sell one?
I would'nt like spending 60 or $80 for a fuel filter, but I would if I could just buy one like for any other vehicle. What makes it even worse is, You can't even buy one without paying so much AND jump thru all the hoops tring to find and order one of the newer ones. Workhorse won't even sell me one.

max49, if you want to make the adapter let me know, the fitting you need is available from a hose shop close to me.. I don't think anyone has found another shop that has them.. The run $10.00 and maybe $ 3.00 for USPS... I'm more then willing to buy it and mail to you...Jack

max49,

Don't thank me, thank Huskyjack as it was his invention. I don't think there is any other way to build the adapter without using an adapter and welding in some form.
