I just thought I would pose this question due to the fact that you now have an option to use something other than the Workhorse only provided fuel filter. Cost and availability where a prime mover in the development of the alternative. But, I often wondered if the price was reduced and availability was changed would user buy the Workhorse style filter over an adapter. So, he is my poll to find out.

oemtech,
The Workhorse OEM fuel filter is over priced, ya think? If OEM Engineering Adaptor had orders for a thousand of these widgets, maybe the price would be reasonable like $30 or $35 each plus S/H.

Ed,

It's called "volume"... The startup costs are a lot more than you think. To go full production would cost even more. So, you need confirmed orders for product or some capital investment to make it fly.

The biggest problem I see is that most folks don't even think about the fuel filter until it is plugged.

At $35 it is about 50% off from what Workhorse dealers are asking. Stocking cost money.

$70 is cheaper than the $77 for the adapter with a filter. But, the adapter wins after you purchase 2 filters for $29.

Consider this.... you can ship say 10 filters in USPS flat rate box for about $10. So if 5 of you got together and ordered 10 they could probably shipped free and maybe even at a reduced cost.

Hummm....

The poll is showing that:

A) At $35, the Workhorse style filter is still to expensive for some.

B) The same people that think the Workhorse filter is to expensive also won't buy the adapter/filter combo.

I guess they just plan to take their chances and pay the "price" when the time comes.

Remember, the Workhorse filter is not used on anything other than Workhorse designed chassis. This means production number are low by industry standards.

You need to change the poll, when you say no to Question 1, it still makes you enter a quantity in the next question. Maybe put in a 0 quantity if something has to be entered...I entered 1 so it would accept my votes.

The way the poll works is if I change anything it resets the totals.

I learn something each time I run one. Pertyy soon I should be getting it right.

Dale, I did'nt answer the poll yet because if you had asked
Would you continue buying WH filters for $35 if they were readily available at most any auto parts store , rather than buying the adapter and the old style, $10/12 filter?
I would , in that case probably just buy the WH filter.
The WH filter is unique in more ways than one. It's probably the only fuel filter that is so hard to get and and often has to be special ordered from only a WH svc cntr. Also, barring some boats, more gas runs thru it than any other gasoline fuel filter.

Oemy, I put in one for the second question to get by the check, but I mean zero! I have your setup on my radar and plan on ordering an additional filter at that time.
Joe

p.s. Thanks for your hard work getting this to market. I am sure others will be getting on the band wagon soon.

PS - You should wait for payment before shipping them...JMHO!

I did process my payment today...had to wait for my deposit/cash transfer to hit Paypal.

I had purchased the adapter earlier and very glad I did. It is very well made. Now that I have the adapter I can focus on other problems with the Workhorse chassis.

Gerry54,

I am old school... your word is all I need until I get burned. I would suspect that 99% of the folks on this board are honest.

Cheylou,

Let us know how it works.

JWtkins,

Don't thank me, thank Glenn Norman (Mutha Busser) as he did most of the work and has sole proprietorship of the product.

Max49,

I am working on getting some info about the original filter to see if I can stock them and sell them at a reasonable cost.
