I have a question. How would one inspect the fuel filter? I don't seem to recall them coming apart.

They will come apart with the use of a hack saw.

I'll guess it would be a visual inspection. My quote was Workhorse's words so they may be able to tell you more.

I think I missed something somewhere. I know the fuel filter on the workhorse needs to be changed for maintenace but I don't carry one with me. Should I?

Thanks,

As others have said, there is no schedule for replacing the fuel filter. But, if you get some bad gas, you will need one for sure. As can be seen from some of the replies to this thread, many dealers do not stock the filter because it is a high cost item that probably doesn't get a lot of turnover. As you can also see from some of the posts, the filter can sometimes take a long time to get. Therefore, it may be wise to carry a spare.

I would always carry a spare... A bad load of fuel can put you on the side of the road. Assuming you can find a WCC dealer that has a fuel filter in stock you maybe back on the road in a day, if your lucky. I can change mine in 15 mins.

I talked to the WCC rep here at the Winni GNR and asked about the filter. As far I can see they have not gotten a replacement vendor, no good answer for stocking problems and no good answer for the price ($47 to $80). OBTW - The rep recommended that you change the filter yearly.

I carry a spare serpentine belt also.

someone is giving you wrong information--- there has been a replacement vendor for 2 months now... very available to the dealers as of right now... now if only every dealer had some on the shelves.....

I guess she missed fuel filter update 101.

How about working on the price and stocking issue. I might even go back to a WCC supplied filter if it is reasonable and available.

in my opinion, all dealers should put these on the shelf, but...

it's up to the individual dealer to stock them... pricing is up to them as well.

I'd personally use OEM myself when it comes to the fuel system.
