Do we have one on the WH chassis? If so, where is it? If not, why? I was under the impression that all gas powered units had to have this safety switch. I would sure hate to get into a crash and have that fuel pump keep pumping out gas!

Digdaddy, I cant quote you "chapter and verse", but Im pretty sure the power (electric)to the fuel pump is dependant upon the presence of oil pressure..so, if the engine is not running, there is no oil pressure, thus no fuel delivery.. Now, in an accident where the engine continues to run, slightly different deal, but a rupture in the fuel line would diminish the fuel pressure, so engine "run on", and resultant fuel "leak" not likely...rgr..

After climbing under dash both sides checking fire wall outside where I think it shouldn't an wouldn't be than checking chassis guides one that came with coach and downloaded 2004 version there isn't such a thing on the WH chassis. What "rgrstndgby" has posted seems to make sense, if the engine quits so does the pump.
Maybe "DriVer" can pick this up and go to the powers to be. "007"

MY last motorhome that was a Ford 460 in a 35 foot Sunbus had that switch in the back of the glove box.

Just a added. As you all know as stated in your car owners manual. Sometime a heavy jolt will trip the safety switch. And all that is needed to restart is to reset the switch. As for the oil pressure to run the pump, it has to run to start the engine. ?

Last I saw in the NHTSA standards, the federal requirement for fuel safety cutoffs did not apply to vehicles over 10,000 lbs except for school buses.

Biggdaddy asked............<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">As for the oil pressure to run the pump, it has to run to start the engine. ? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Im shooting in the dark a little bit here, but on a Chrysler Daytona I used to own, there was a "Start Switch" that briefly energized the fuel pump ,(sort of a prime) when attempting to start the engine. This gave enough pressure in the injector system to start the engine and thereby supplying oil pressure to allow the fuel pump to run.. Im "pretty sure" other manuf. use something similar On the Chrysler, you could hear it activate and bring up the pressure...rgr...

According to Workhorse the fuel pump is energized by command from the ECM. If there is no power to the ECM fuel flow will cease.

So the answer to the original question (Fuel Safety shut off switch, Do we have one on the WH chassis?) is no. That's kind of scary.
