One thing that really bugs me is the fuse holder under the panel to the left of the steering column. In my motorhome, it just hangs there....not fastened to the firewall or any other sturcture.....only thing keeping it place are the wires running to it and from it......really poor I think.......is my rig the exception? or are they all that way?

There's a fuse cover under my dash same place as yours and the cover is just like you described it. I haven't figured out yet how or if it snaps into place.

I believe what you are describing is the coach builders' fuse panel. My panel is mounted in steel enclosure under my dash pod. In my opinion, a very professional install.

I have seen these panels screwed into plywood firewalls and then again just left hanging in mid air. I'd say it's rather unusual for an OEM to do that with an electrical panel considering the importance of the fuses.

That is how Workhorse ships them to the coach manufacturer, However a GOOD coach maker will bolt them down to someting.. Damon did mine.

Of course.. It might be easier to change a fuse if it was hanging loose, I don't know.

The reason by the way that workhorse ships them that way is that when they arrive at Damon the driver's seat is a box. Wooden I think. Most all the "Dash" stuff which workhorse provides is inside that box.

Some other chassis makers they have a plastic kitchen chair for the driver to sit in.

Depends on the chassis maker

Take a look at the raw chassis some day (You can visit your factory.. if it's still around,, Workhorse, or watch for a semi load of 'em on the road.)

That material doesn't seem to be conducive to the job description.

George, Ya know you are right there! But, we don't really have a firewall in a literal sense in these class A front engine designs. At least not like in a car or PU, where the engine is out in front of the passenger compartment.

In mine, the doghouse cover certainly does not qualify as a firewall. ED

Well I guess Tiffin is a BAD coach maker, cause my Allegro came with the dangling fuse panel.
Dang! and I thought I was buying a good one!

Dieselclacker, Go out and bag that critter and tie it down. Pick a spot even if you have to tie wrap it on something .... just make sure it don't spark!!

Dale, yup, thats the one. Mine has a zip tie on it to keep it from swinging around I guess. Its been that way for over 5 years, so no rush in securing it. I know trying a access that sucker, even though its visable requires some body bending and arm stretching.

On my Damon it is securly bolted to a spot just above the floor right against the left side kick panel. It is up to the coach maker to bolt it down

my georgetown fuse panel was screwed to the wood above the parking brake. i had a real time changing a fuse. i left it loose & used a pull tie on some other wires to keep it from swinging. looks like i went back to factory specs. it's still not easy to reach-but do-able.
