I have a '02 Sightseer with a Workhorse gasoline 8.1 mill. It started quickly up to about 68K miles, Then, all of the sudden, it was hard to start. It has always started, but it does so randomly on the first, second or third try, and it didn't seem to make any difference if it was cold or hot. It doesn't seem, to have any effect if I touch the gas pedal or not. I changed plugs, wires and rotor and the fuel pressure valve, but that didn't work. I am up to 89K now, and just changed the fuel filter, but, so far, that has had no effect. Anyone got any ideas? Once started, it runs fine. Could it be the fuel pump? if so, is it a single high pressure pump in the gas tank? I don't have an engine manual. I am stumped, and have run out of things to change, except maybe my shirt.

Incidentally, I called Workhorse customer service three times, but, even though I am a good person, they never returned my calls.

Mine did the same thing when I had a bum fuel pump. I found out I could cycle the key (fuel pump) 3 times and it would start every time on the third cycle. After putting a fuel pressure gauge on it we noticed the first key cycle would result in 30psi, the second 40psi and finally the third 50+psi. After a new fuel pump and filter the first key cycle it would jump right up to 60psi.

I agree with the fuel pump DX.
