The original the bearings are shot and it's getting rather noisy

wa8yxm, The BEST resource for you to get the blower motor would be to call Damon. Workhorse does not supply the blower motor. If this is a Chevy part perhaps you can use the link that's posted in the auto park thread which will show you the commercial Chevrolet (P Series) parts catalog.

wa8yxm, is your dash HVAC made by Evans Tempcon? If so, they have a list of service parts here that may help: Evans Tempcon, Inc - Service Parts, of course the blower probably does cross to an automotive P/N which should be cheaper

Good luck!

Take the motor out and verify the bearings are bad. It is real easy to remove (3 screws and a connector). Mine was chirping and it turned out to be the fan blades rubbing. Fix was free.

If your motor is as easy to get out as described above, there is a EASY FIX . The Motor probably does not have bearing's, it has permantly lubricated bushing's,(should be) but sometime you have to compensate. I did this to my WATER PUMP in the RV, and it's been working for over two yrs. If your interested, or maybe not, just let me know. Good Luck,
David G.

Good suggestion only it's 4 screws.. Save for the electrical connector the motor appears to be identical to the one on my 1992 Chevy Lumina APV.. Same mounting plate. Same hole for cooling air to the motor (using the same hose as the Chevy uses too) I don't know if it is the same size or rotational direction however.

And I should add with a bit of testing the lumina blower will likely work.

So I'm sure it is a standard GM motor

And The reason I know it's the bearings that are shot...

There is over an 1/8" play in the end of the shaft (Side to side) when you wiggle it while holding the motor.

There should be no noticable wiggle.

OK, Maybe it's 4. I do know it's easy to remove though.

Wow! 1/8"? Yeah, you may have a problem. You must put a lot of milage on that motor to have that much ware.

Well.. Got to the "Auto Recycler's" today and he went to the shelf and pulled down a rebulit blower motor for a 1997-2000 Chevy Van.

Same size, Same rotation, Same mounting plate.. One small difference

The thread on the shaft is metric.. cost me $25.00 for the motor and $0.20 for a Nyloc nut to put on the end of the shaft.

I'll install it.... Tomorrow when I can access the spot it fits

But I measured the mounting flange.. Exact match

Connectors. identical

I mean it's the same motor.

Thread on the shaft? Huh…mine doesn’t have threads on the shaft. My fan has an allen screw that secures it to the motor shaft.

ON mine the blower is held on with a hex nut and can be removed.

I got it installed yesterday and found

1: I had to rotate the motor 180 degrees (all the holes still lined up) as the original had two holes for the cooling air line and a plug in one where as the new motor has only one hole.. THis was NOT a problem.. and 2: I still have noise on high. appears I need a new blower too.. this too, can wait.
