I'm at Yosemite and noticed that our US Gear Unified Tow Brake is inoperable. I had the Ultrapower upgrade done last Monday and didn't notice that a red wire that the installation manual says is connected to "ignition" was accidently unplugged and now my supplemental braking system does no work. My question is... where does it plug into? I know I'm asking alot but I'm mechanically challenged and when I look under the dash and see the looms I freak. Anyone steer me in the right direction or should I wait until I get back home and let my dealer handle it.

FYR GUY : I hate to see you go all the home without the bene of the brake. I'd also hate to tell you wrong about that red wire. You did not say where you found it, and if it has any type of terminal end. If it is out under the hood, perhaps you could see if attaching it to the pos. battery terminal will re-supply the power to your USG. If you are leery of doing that, Please come back with more info and we will be glad to help you get reconnected. ED

The red wire goes to the ignition switch. It can be connected to any wire that is energized by the ign sw. The other end should go to the control module that is mounted on the dash. Hop you were talking about the MH side of the tow brake.

If you get on the internet and go to "www.usgear.com" , click on installation procedures they have a diagram of all the components and the wiring. Hope this helps.

Thank's for the quick response guys. The red wire has a small flat terminal and it was found underneath the dash coming out of the connector that comes off the controller I looked under the hood and it is not the one connected to the pos battery. I did visit the US Gear site and found all I could read and it only says it goes to "ignition" as previously stated. My real problem is that I don't know where to start looking for a wire that is energized by the ignition switch, any ideas? Thank's

If the red wire has a flat blade terminal, then look for a "female" connector that your "male" blade will slide into. The receiving terminal will be about the same width, but the edges will be "curled" or rolled up so as to grip the flat blade, keeping the connection secure. Also, the female side may have a rubber or plastic cover over it, to provide insulation for this "hot" wire. Let us know how you make out. ED

On my tow brake the ign wire is connected at the fuse panel. Take a test light and find a fuse or a connection point that is hot only when the ign is turned on.

I knew I could always count on my Uncle Sam! I finally took the plunge and did as you mention and I double checked with my installer and he said I was on the money. Thank's to all.
