If you look various trac bars you will find them almost identical in design. Why, there are only so many ways it can be designed. Check the Hellwig front bar, the Davis True Trac and the UltraTrac... The no bolt version are either welded parts or bent parts (no welds).
As Mike said, the trac bar ties the axle to the frame and the up/down movement might be 2" either side of center.
Now if you want get into the details and think you have a "RACE" version RV, then you will need to move the axle mounting point to the bottom of the spring perch. Now, you have to calculate the roll center and adjust the angle accordingly. Why... The torque of the engine is transferred to the drive shaft and on to the rear axle. This means the right rear gets loaded more than the left. Adjusting the roll center changes this. That's what the NASCAR guys are doing when they raise and lower the "trac bar" so they don't tear up the right rear tire or they need more grip on the left rear.

This topic started in 2004 and it appears the Track Bar price has gone up quite a bit. CW now list the Workhorse model at $539 with a CW Members discount.
Does anyone know where I can get a better price? Also, how difficult is the installation...any drilling required?
Tnx

I need some advice on a problem with the rear trac bar on my Bounder W22. It was installed last fall at Brazel's RV. I love the effect on the handling, but it has been leaking differential fluid from the two bolts on the red plate holding the trac bar to the differential.
My local Workhorse service center doesn't want to reinstall the trac bar because they can't guarantee that it won't leak again. I'm in the Midwest so it's not convenient to bring it to Brazel's. I'm not sure what to do next.
Any advice appreciated.

Bob,
Our recommendation would be to remove the bolts, add a sealant to them, and reinstall....should be good to go after that!

What sealant would be appropriate?

Black RTV Silicone would work the best...could you please give me a call at the shop before the work is performed though. This is not a common problem and I'd like to have one of my technicians speak with you.
Thanks!
